Our vision is to make the renting of high quality construction equipment easier whilst increasing the utilisation and revenue of existing equipment rather than wasting the planet’s resources continually manufacturing new.
The Shareplant marketplace makes it easy to find, rent and ship all types of specialist, local construction and engineering equipment whilst increasing its utilisation and revenue for equipment owners.
The first equipment sharing marketplace in the UK
In 2016, we disrupted the multi billion pound construction and engineering rental industry by establishing the Shareplant rental marketplace.
Prior to this, whilst working on major construction projects, I became increasingly frustrated with the difficulty of renting high quality specialist construction equipment whilst at the same time observing local equipment standing idle. Equipment was being transported up to 150 miles to my construction site because we couldn’t easily find local equipment to rent.
It was such a waste of money to have this expensive equipment underutilised so badly and a waste of time and carbon emissions to transport it large distances for short term jobs. My suspicions were confirmed when I observed the exact same problem whilst travelling to Dubai and Italy.
An opportunity to improve the equipment rentals market whilst mitigating climate change
It then became my mission to solve this problem and, after a year of discussions and development, the Shareplant rentals platform was launched in 2016.
Our journey has only just begun and, by working with our clients, we have recently launched the 2nd generation of our equipment rentals marketplace and launched our Shareplant Shipping marketplace, which connects construction projects teams with transport providers to ship equipment and materials anywhere in the UK.
We aren’t stopping here!

Mark Watters
Founder | Managing Director
Mark is a professional engineer with over 35 years experience in the construction and engineering industries and is passionate about eliminating inefficiencies and reducing cost and carbon emissions.
His interests outside work include fell walking (we are based in the Lake District after all 
), cycling, motorsport and classic car restoration.
Mandy Watters
Director
Mandy is a Human Resources and Finance professional with experience in the engineering, construction and nuclear industries. Mandy runs our ‘back office’ and ensures all our processes and procedures run smoothly.
Her interests include interior design, running, cycling, fitness classes, fell walking and looking after two growing teenagers.
Colin Sharpe
Sales Manager
Colin is a seasoned business development and sales professional who is responsible for key account management and the growth of our marketplace owner and hirer user community.
Colin’s passion in life is all things Italy and his frequent trips to his homeland always rekindle his love for italian food, cars and fashion. “Ciao, come stai” .
Josh Parvin
Marketing Executive
Josh is our marketing Executive responsible for the marketing of Shareplant and of our customers rental and shipping listings by managing our social media and email marketing campaigns.
Josh is a passionate football fan and regularly attends home matches at Old Trafford to support his team, Manchester United.
Adam Baxter
Customer Services Executive
Adam is our customer services executive who is responsible for ensuring our customers have a great experience and for responding to customer messages and support requests.
Adam is currently studying for his T Levels in Computer Science and, when he isn’t studying he is passionate about his red Volkswagen polo.
Aaron Watters
Research Executive
Aaron is studying for an Engineering degree and is our chief researcher responsible for providing market research information to our sales and marketing team.
Aaron is a sportsman through and through with a passion for football and boxing and has conquered many of the fells in the Lake District.
